Ignition

I have a 2002 ford f 150 with a small v 8. I went to start the truck and the dash lights came on as usual but will not engage to turn over, then I removed the key and the dash display was still on . I removed the battery positive wire so I wouldn't drain the battery. I think I need a new ignition switch . How do I jump the starter solenoid to turn over the engine ? If I replace the ignition switch do I need to bring it to the dealer to have them re boot the computer to the key ?if so how much will it cost ?
