I stopped by the dealer tonight to check on the progress of engine replacement. It was closing time and only a couple guys left "sweeping up". My truck was on the hoist, engine compartment was empty, and a black plastic container with a tag on it that says "Ford Quality Remanufactured Engine" was sitting behind my truck. I thought 1999's got NEW 2000 motors! I guess I will have to call first thing tomorrow to see what is up with that!

I would think if it's a warr problem, a new engine would be proper! That sounds Bogus in the 1st degree. Good luck! Complain loudly so that potential buyers can hear what they might have to deal with at that dealer!

I called this morning and talked to the service manager. Ford sent the wrong engine. They are "air freighting" a new 2000 5.4L and he said it should arrive today. He said too bad the mechanic didnt check the shipment first before yanking my original engine. Hah. All is well. (knock on wood)

Once the engine is in your truck how will you know for sure if its the new 2000 engine or the FQR motor they already had?

 

wtd, There is a sticker on the engine, I believe on the drivers side valve cover that indicates if it is a FQR. If it has a plastic intake manifold then it is a 2000. There are other topics here that indicate this.
