Exclamation Starter problems

New to the site here. I have a 99 f150 4.6 V8. The positive wire to the starter was severely corroded and broke at the connection right by the starter, we replaced the connection and attached it to the starter again but nothing happened except a clicking sound coming from the starter. Got pulled home and replaced the starter and same thing happened again, after replacing the starter I noticed the grounding strapping from the frame to the body was broke so I replaced it with a ground wire (1-2G) from a car stereo system, I made sure there was a clean connection at both the body and frame yet nothing has changed. Any suggestions?

Replace the starter cable (Motorcraft WC9372B). I know, it ain't cheap ($67.79 at rockauto.com) but when they corrode like that they can't handle the current even with a new end on it.
