Do you mean a can for the pcv from the valve covers? If so, I have 2 of them.

Maybe on a Lightning, but why on non-supercharged F150?

To catch the oil before it goes threw the throttle body and into the intake.

Oil won't do that on a non-supercharged F150.

Please explain why I have oil going threw the throttle body and coating the inside of the intake manifold. And also why other people have installed them on supercharged and non super charged
Im not looking to catch a ton of oil but some of it.

SC'd engines reverse the air flow in the PVC system under hard acceleration and pull blow-by back thru the intake system.

Is your PVC system functioning properly? Installed a new PVC valve?

... which is why the 5.oh-so-sloh folks are also doing it.....

MGD

PS - IIRC, the 5.4 3V's have integrated non-serviceable PCV built into the valve cover.....

04-10 3V 5.4s don't have real PCV valves, that's what the wonderful VCT system is for.

People are putting catch cans on the new 5.0s, if that's what you've been seeing. Without a SC, I don't think I've seen anyone put one on a stock 5.4. But it's not like I'm paying particular attention to this.

The VCT system has nothing to do with it. The engine does in fact have PCV, but instead of a valve there's a fixed orifice built into the valve cover.

The folks who have the 5.7 Dodge Hemi and beat them a lot put catch cans on them. I don't drive so fast any more and I've never had to put one on my engine. I do not have one on my 2V 5.4 truck and don't need one.

To my understanding, Variable Cam Timing helped reduce the need for a true PCV, making the "PCV" on the 3V do less overall "work," because VCT helps provide better/more complete/more efficient combustion.
