Curious if anyone on this forum runs mud bogs with a 351. Built or not Im curious. Opinions and pics/videos would be great.
I'm building locked 1 tons with 4.88's in them, and ill run 40 inch tires.
Currently it would be a 351 I'd like to put a cam in Im just curious if money and time spent I should really just switch over to a 460. I know a stock 460 will run circles around a mild built 351 I'd just love to hear from someone wheeling a 351 what it could really do with pedal to the floor and big tires. If I can get the job done with the 351 Im not going to bother with 460 for now and my wallet would much appreciate that !

You can use the 351 engine but you'll need to either go a little lower with the gears like 5.11s or use a little shorter tire like a 37" or you'll never get enough wheel speed. I wouldn't suggest a 460 either or a 400. Use a 429 instead. Properly balanced they can turn 10 grand with zero vibration. You can make tons of HP with one along with more torque than you can use. Junk yards are full of these old 385 series engines and they are cheap to buy. This was the engine used in the old Lincolns, Thunderbirds, and big Mercurys. And yes, most 460 parts will work. I keep threatening to build an EFI 429 and put it in my 91 EB Bronco.
