Update on problem: Today we changed the belt tensioner pulley as it was making a lot of racket. When we got that changed we tried to start it and it wouldn't fire!! We cranked and cranked and nothing. Finally I pulled the ground off and let it set for 30 minutes, put ground back on and it still wouldn't start. Finally got a can of ether and sprayed in the air filter housing. It fired right up and now it runs perfect! Drove it a few miles and it just runs great. The only thing I did was clean the MAF with cleaner yesterday and didn't run it after that. I'm hoping the gremlins don't come back! Thanks everybody for your advice! I'm still really puzzled what happened!

If you had to ether it to start it, sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem.
