Just get the motorcraft ones or visteon That is motorcraft supplier Accel cops are said to be inferior. I have never bought them. I have bought Vistions and have has no issues. There is no such thing as a high performance replacement.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-2008-LINCOLN-TOWN-CAR-IGNITION-COIL-VISTEON-BRAND-NEW-ALL-8-PCS-/370944224459?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item565dffaccb&vxp=mtr

OEM ignition parts all day long on these vehicles. Anything else is a step down.

Sorry man, I think it's mostly marketing hype. The system can't handle any more than the Motorcrafts deliver. Just a waste of money, plus there have been too many failures of Accel ax well as Granitelli

brenspeed, - heard of them but yea, Motorcraft/Visteon. If you don't want any headaches. Accel makes good coils, and other ignition parts, but not for COP systems unfortunately. Only Mototcraft /Visteon are made to exact Ford spec and that really counts for a lot when it comes COP systems.

If you go with Visteons, make sure there for your model year 5.4L. DG521 is the Motocraft part # , Visteons will be a different #, so make sure there compatible.

Should be easy to find on Ebay or Amazon.

I only have 44000 miles on my truck and having irritating misfire issues with the stock COPs. Im going with the accels bc motorcraft only got me 44xxx miles. How much worse could accel be? Ill report back in after i install the accels and see how i fare. Shame on motorcraft for only lasting that long.

Well good luck, - maybe your the one that will defy all odds?

I've NEVER heard of a Motorcraft coil failure like that unless you got the engine wet.

Not sure why you even asked. - Obviously,- the correct answer didn't really matter lol. Oh well...

Regardless, -Good Luck.

My original question was what was the correct accel part number for my specific vehicle since there was a slight design change during some period. I later found the answer on brendpeeds site. I didnt question what brand. But now that i ordered the correct accel part number, i will try and help those who have this same issue and are considering going with accel. Who knows, it could be the spark plugs. Either way i will report back at some point

I would absolutely do the plugs before messing with the COPs at all . . . plugs go out, COPs last a very long time.

Jethat, those are DG508's.

To the original poster - suit yourself, but we have found that Accel cops are not as reliable as stock.

Who knows, it could be the spark plugs.
That's a lot more likely than the cops.
