1992 5.0 skips and loses power accelerating at cruising speed

Hey guys I've got a 92 5.0, when I'm going down the road at cruising speed and I come to a hill or any sort of incline the truck will not gear down and accelerate, you have to put your foot in the gas to get it to go. But when it does gear down and accelerate its power falls flat along with a loud spark nock and pretty bad shake like it wants to die. I feel like its a timing issue but the truck runs fine other than that it idels great and accelerates fine from a stop, it only has this problem when going down the road at speed. PLEASE HELP!!!! The truck just recently turned over 100k and is in fantastic shape! This is driving me crazyyy!!!

When was the last time you changed the plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor?

Its been a couple of years. But that would cause it to skip all the time right?

Not necessarily. I suspect you may have a cracked cap.
