Question Towing performance

I am new to this forum, but have been doing a lot of reading on this great site...haven't seen a great deal of info about towing and the F-150's performance vs. other comparable vehicles. I have a new 2000 SC, 4x4, 5.4L, tow package, ORP...am anxious to see how it stacks up against the competition. Any insights? Good experiences or bad??

Well, on the dyno, the 5.4 has the best torque curve over the Chevy and DOdge. Ford is the choice if you want to tow, and want speed and looks.

Mooner - i haul a 5th whl with my 4.6l & HD tow pkg. Plate on "wheel" says 5000lbs & of course I load it beyond that.

I have made 2 extended trips over Rockies, from Vancouver Island to Manitoba & the island to Calif & Ariz. - so we're talking 4000 ft plus hills.

Mine is 2wd & auto trans 3.55 rr end.

Pulls like stink, but still slows on REALLY STEEP grades (why not) - have never reved over 4000 rpms on any grade, so a 5.4 should be better - depending on load, of course.

Hope this helps

Mobil1 /Wix Oil filter/ K&N / air box mod.
In looks & go - Chevy - like a rock.
