01 swapability

What motors will fit the 01 4x4 f150? I have a stock 4.6 was wondering of the modular 4.6 will be a drop in replacement of the triton or if some of the newer engines would be close to a direct swap minus some flash work and or exhaust plumbing type stuff?

almost any 2001+ 2v 4.6 will swap directly. You'll have to swap some parts on some of them but they should all work.

Why? The 4.6 2V out of a Mustang is identical to the truck engine.

We are talking 2 valve engines, those are the same except for intake and exhaust. Same block, same pistons, same heads, same cams.

And I believe my question is being missed. I don't want a 4.6 or 5.4 triton back in this truck. What other motors can I mount to that trans without an adapter? Any?

I think Ford makes a kit to adapt a 5.0 into it (which i believe is a mod motor)
But for ease of install you're gonna have to stick to a 4.6 or 5.4.
What's the reasoning behind not upgrading to a 5.4 2v.

You can affordabley swap any 2v 5.4 or 4.6. That is all the rest anything is possible if there is enough money in your checking account be it isnt affordable.

A 5.0 would be nice. The last 5.4 I had I did not care for and my 4.6 I have now would run circles around that 5.4 I had which was a brand new engine

Why don't you just rebuild and modify your 4.6?

That's VERY hard to believe. Come to think of it, I don't think I've heard anyone say that before lol.

Dang. The 5.4l 2v are almost as reliable as the 2v 4.6 and that plus the torque would make it worth it for me.
You must have had a shat 5.4.
