03 FX4 4wd problem

On my FX4,when I switch to 4lo or 4hi,I hear the clunking of it engaging. The arm moves in and out,all the lights are on that's supposed to be on,but it's not in 4wd. The front wheels aren't pulling at all. Would anyone happen to have had this problem before? I desperately need my 4wd. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've checked all vacuum hoses and everything else.

You might have a vacuum leak in the line that runs to the front axle that "locks" it in. Thats what I'd check. There are 2 solenoids mounted on the firewall Check the vacuum lines running to them. They hate battery acid I can tell you from personnel experience..

Thanks jethat, the 2 solonoids a are both clicking when they get engaged, so I assume they are both fine, the arm on the motor on the transfer case moves like it should, the line your talking about I looked at today and it "looked" good, but who knows man.

If you have a vacuum gauge pull the fitting off the front axle the vacuum fitting and engage the 4x4 or have someone do it while you hold you finger over it you should be able to feel vacuum..

The transfer case shift and the axle lock are 2 separate processes.
