Question Intake Silencer

I have a 1998 F-150 4X4 XLT with the 5.4L and have read about an intake silencer and that it restricts HP. I would like to remove mine but have no idea where it is. Can any one help out? I am pretty mechaincal and could do it myself if I knew where it was.

It is in the 90 degree air tube running from the motor to the filter housing. In the rectangle part. Do a search on it and you will find some good articles on its removal. I did it and it helps a lot and sounds good to

I just removed mine last night.... took around 20 Min...
Remember to dissconnect your battery.... so the computer can reset itself.... It will have to adjust to the more air flow...From what I have read.... and Have been told....

I really didnt notice any change in the sound....
but I did notice a bit more throttle responce.... Maybe 1 or 2 more Hp.... If that.... I'm fixing to ad a K&N air filter.... along with a cat-back system.... Just doing alot of research on all the Manufactures.... Also Maybe a SuperChip.... Maybe this will ad a bit more Punch.....

99 F150 XLT 4.6L Black from Bumper to Bumper...
