Where is the Engine Code?

Unhappy Where is the Engine Code?

I want to find out if the engine in my truck is the original..Is there a "no doubt "way to do this?

The best way is to look at your VIN number the engine code should be about the 8th digit in the VIN number if I'm correct on that.

yes 8 dig on the vin but on the engine is a factory code tag check there for the original tag

its the 8th digit.......L=5.4
6=4.6 winsor
W=4.6 Romeo

The 8th digit off the VIN will only tell you manu. location and size of the engine the was originally installed from the factory. Compare that information to the engine code on the driver side valve cover. If the engine has been replaced, you most likely will not have any information on that valve cover. A FQR will have a Ford Quality Renewel sticker on the top, rear passenger side valve cover. A Ford Remanufactured will have a metal tag attached to the BLOCK right above the rear side of the oil pan also on the passenger side. Hope this helps.
