So basically you all are saying that the k&n hasn't benefited your trucks at all? I would agree that my mpg has not changed and the response is not so much better that I'd brag about it but I do like the better sound when the motor is revs. With the enclosed box, do you still get the same sound as the k&n filter without the extra dirty oily filter?

Like jethat said..,MANY documented cases of CAI's providing nothing. I only wish I had done some homework before getting mine; but that was a long time ago. And as for my reasoning for starting this thread in the first place, I'd argue this set-up is actually hurting performance off the line and/or stop and go traffic; especially in summer and especially when pulling my trailer in those conditions!! I did get smart sooner rather than later and ditched the K&N filter though. Amsoil makes a conical filter that's a direct replacement/fit for the K&N filter on the K&N CAI. Matter of fact, I'll send you mine if you PayPal me enough to cover the shipping and you can try it out!
Just like these guys said minimal gain even with custom tunes to justify the 100+ dollars you spend when you can get the same results with a 10$ gotts mod..
I meant it's a direct fit onto the mount and it's a cone. As for actual dimensions, IDK if they're "exact" or not, but that's 110% irrelevant. Any minor difference in overall length or diameter would never make a difference; it's gosh darn close enough. I'll look and see if I can find the part number. If not, I still have the conical K&N that came on it; I'll measure both or photo them side by side if you really care…but we're splitting very small hairs.

Job complete and holy cow! I bought my intake back a loooong time ago before I was smart enough to do the research or em was on here but chalk that one up as another lesson learned. Spent all day driving around town in stop and go traffic; all my previous symptoms are GONE! Can't believe how nice the truck drives and how smooth it is.
