P0022 fixed!

Problem; Intake camshaft timing - over- retarded

Solution; checked the VCT oil control solenoid, had a broken screen, replaced it and the truck runs great!

Just figured it'd throw it out there for the guys like me that wished they didn't have to find it the hard way.

I know a little bit about these 5.4's so if you have a question just ask

VCT Oil control Solenoid

Is that the correct name for the part you fixed your truck with?
I'm having the same issues! I have even noticed it more when raining or going through car wash.

I had this same code (as well as several more) & a new set of VCT solenoids fixed them all. One had a broken screen as well. Initial symptoms were rough idle, lack of throttle response, and multiple misfires.
