Stranger than science fiction !!!!

Doing a plug change on my bosses 97 E-150. Plugs came right out no problem. Used compressed air to blow off debris, a couple felt "gritty" when removing but no real issue.

Now all of them are turning in 4 complete turns and stopping. Using the Ford high nickel anti-seize and Ford spark plugs.

Kinda of confused with easy removale and them on lock down after 4 revolutions.

Get a spark plug thread tap ??? Heard these engines have problems blowing spark plugs out and really want to avoid that happening.

Thanks for any help or advice.

The reason they are prone to blowing out is that there are only 4 threads. Use no anti sieze and torque to 28 ft lbs.

Only 4 threads in the head ??? LOL...That is crazy...Oh well, thought I was losing my mind...Just a thought here, but it seemed like when I was removing them it took way more than 4 revolutions to get the plug to come out.

Too late on the anti-seize...Should I remove the plugs and try to spray out the spark plug holes with brake clean or something, clean the plugs and re-install ???

Thank you for the help.

The proper answer is yes but if it were me, I would just torque them to 28 and go. For future reference, the MC plugs for these engines are nickel coated, so no anti seize is required, and you don't want to add anything that might help them back out a little and blow.
