I just had a remanufactured engine put in my '04 FX4. I looked at it today and noticed that it is approx. 3-4" lower than the original engine (you can actually see where the air filter housing touched the firewall on the old one).

I didn't pay for new engine mounts and I haven't asked my mechanic yet. I wanted some perspective before going to him and sounding like a complete idiot.

Anyone have a clue before I ask my mechanic?
