engine

After surviving cancer 4 years ago and driving many miles in my beloved 86 150 to and from treatments I had to have a fresh 302EFI installed. Now it is missing real bad. I installed new plugs and wires, Dist. cap and rotor along with new fuel filter. I did use some throttle body cleaner in intake at higher RPMs and that seamed to take care of it for a few days, but the missing returned. I had a friend look at it and thought it might be injectors. has heavy smell of gas and a light ticking from one injector (guessing). Can any one shed some light on what to do next? Thanks, Jack

Throw some Techron in the gas, sounds like you may have sticky/dirty injectors.

Techron is good. Also Gumout with Regane on the label that I use.

I had a 1986 F150 with the 302 V8. On a hot summer day with the AC on, the ignition module that is mounted on the front of the distributor just behind the radiator would overheat and the spark voltage would drop off. I noticed it the most when I was towing my travel trailer. It wouldn't run over 55mph without missing. Sometimes it wouldn't run that fast. Letting it cool off would fix it temporarily. I've heard of people buying a cold bottle of Pepsi and pouring it on the module to cool it off.

Injectors are definitely the possibility. I'm guessing you used the originals..? They may have sat for a few weeks, months?
I wouldnt bother the price of new injectors vs a $6 bottle of techron. Just add the techron per directions and take it on a nice drive. If it is them, should clear them right up.
