Truck bogging down

I was going offeoad the other day and went to go up a steep grade and my truck wouldn't hardly make it. It was like it was bogging down. It finaly pulled through. Then I tried to power brake it to see if it would and it won't spin the tires over anymore it just bogged down. I don't have any power issues going down the road and the truck picks up speed and runs 75 80 mph with no issues. I was told this could be my torque converter not transferring power. What do you guys think. I have a 01 screw 4x4 auto 5.4 engine 300k plus miles.

I'd put a fuel pressure gauge on it after replacing the filter and see whats going on that way. Might just need a tune up if you havent for awhile.

I changed fuel filter and two cops and all plugs about 30k miles ago when I put a new intake on it. The old one was cracked and was leaking violent into the front plug hole. I used accel coils on two that needed replacing and left the others alone. I used plugs from autozone but I was thinking of getting all new hi output plugs and cops. I want to put a lighting supercharger setup on here but I don't think the bottom end would handle it do you? How much pressure should I have under a load? So you don't think it is the tranny at all?

Give it a tune-up with OEM ignition parts, they are the best for these trucks.

Rockauto.com has Motorcraft plugs, as does O'Reilly and Autozone. Don't let them sell you Autolite or any other brand.

Get these cops:

I've noticed now going down the road at 60 mph I have a hesitation every min or so it just sorta cuts back but not a steady skip it may not do it again for ten miles then it will do it a few times then maybe another ten or twenty miles. Thoughts on that anyone?

At 300k+ miles you have to consider all things. These guys have you pointed in the right direction. Make sure the ignition components are reliable motorcraft plugs and those visteon coils recommended. And also mentioned fuel pressure test. That is a great place to start. Consider it maintenance.

On a side note... adding a lightning setup on top of that many miles may be asking for trouble. It would be worth a rebuild or lower mileage engine if that is something you want to pursue.

Next time you change the plugs, check the compression.
