oil pressure at idle

ok- again sorry for posting here, most viewers and eng guys

info - 2002 ford windstar 3.8l eng

while replacing oil pressure switch for the idoit light, I used a mech. gauge to check actual pressure. had 60 psi on high idle / cold this dropped to 15 psi with eng hot at idle. pressure runs at 50 psi while rpms around 2500

book calls for 40-125 psi at 2500 rpm but does not list a idle psi

does anyone know if 15psi is out of range - i'm thinking it is and I need a new oil pump but can't find any info on idle pressure

eng guys I need help, any ideas ???-----

That engine sounds like it's probably got a bunch of miles on it and is getting tired. Being a relatively low-tech pushrod motor, you can use heavier oil in it. I'd probably put 10w40 in it.
