Really getting frustrated!!!!

So its been a while since i posted!!! Really missed everyone on here. Been really busy and the truck has been running great.....!!!!

Until about 3 weeks ago....

Three weeks ago it started missing. NOthing serious. Figured it was due for some plugs. and maybe new cops. I have had them laying around for almost two years. Anyways I through my gryphon in and it told me a miss on Cyl #7.

Pulled the COP off and found a loose spark plug.

WHAT!!! A loose plug????

So i tightened it up and through the COP on and went for a test drive. Made it 2 blocks before it missed again. Went home and pulled the COP and the same plug was loose.

Tightened it again and went driving. This time it made it a day. Then a couple hours. Then 3 days. Then 6 days. I have been tightening down that many times thinking that it would change results. Each time a bit harder. The last time it did this i shot a plug out randomly cruising at 35.

I have a feeling it is going again. Tried a new motorcraft plug. No change.

SUGGESTIONS?????

Might be time for some Fox Lake Heads and a new tune.....

Truck has 135xxx on her and has been running great.

Does that plug have an insert from a previous plug launch?
What are you torquing it too?
If you are torquing it properly and it is still coming loose then the threads are damaged. There is just no way a 28ft/lb torqued plug in a good set of threads is coming out by itself.

Sounds like it's time for a Timesert. Galaxy rents the kit.

Jbrew and glc, Nice to see your still giving great info on here.

I rented the tool from galaxy the first time it happened. Glad to hear he might still be offering the same service. It worked really well. I have never had another problem in that CYL.

Maybe i will PM him and see if he is still doing it. I would rather just do it now and get it over with then losing the CYL and having to wait for it to be shipped in and have down time.

As far as how tight i was torquing them to. I started with my torque wrench at the 28lbs. It went loose evey time. Then i used a ratchet and went as tight as I could think and not strip it out. That lasted the longest at 6 days. I figured if it was close to going anyways i might as well help it on its way....lol

I think Galaxy may be deployed over in the sandbox right now - maybe his wife is handling the tool rentals for him.
