The 5.4 2Valve engine is one of the most reliable engines ever. The 3 valve has VCT issues sometimes that can kill the engine.
But any engine has to be maintained properly. Good maintenance and a light right foot will get maximum service.

i have beat and banged and pulled way more than i should have but the 5.4 triton has never said i quit . i have had all kinds of trucks but this 2003 f150 is my baby it works and never has any issues and i can be rough on trucks . right at 200k nothing has been changed other than oil and plugs and an alt just common stuff as far as the motor itself i think it might be the best motor ford ever built in my opinion

I've got over 250 on mine. Synthetic since it was new and the only thing I've had to replace is coils, Alternator, and the intake manifold. Runs like a top

How about 1,299,986 Miles?

The 5.4 2 valve is bulletproof. The 3 valve? Not so much so, timing components.

Sort of a good ad for Valvoline motor oil too. Didn't say "synthetic" so I assume it was regular.

Yep, I have no reason to trade my 2002 that only has 146k pleasure packed miles on it.
