I've been racking my brain all night about what could have happened. I heard a little "ticking" noise before all this happened. I was guessing it was a rocker arm making the noise. The more I think about it, it sounds like the dang rocker came off the valve. What do you think?

Did you physically check the plugs? You put a socket on each one and verified they are tight?

No I didnt. I started to do some work on it yesterday, BUT.......... I got in my tool box and one of my sets of Snap-On wrenches, both sets of my 1/4 metric sockets, and my3/8 deep metric sockets were gone! All that stuff was Snap-On! Its a big coincidence that my dang step-son was working on his truck last week! So, Im in the market for a few tools. I will find the problem with my truck Monday!

Forget buying tools, you need a shotgun. Even if you're not a good shot, can't miss with that! Don't think I'd be sittin down for that one.

I have a back up vehicle to drive, so time is not an issue. Also are there any performance upgrades I should get? While I have the motor out, I am going to rebuild the front end. Im lifting the truck so Ill do that while i have the motor out. If you have any ideas that would help, please let mer know.
#1 figure out what happened

#2 figure out what you want int he long run from a motor swap

#3 a PI 5.4 swap would be the best option, IMHO

Hes looking for a new place to live! Thie was the last straw. Hes almost 21. Hes a smart azz, punk and Im NOT putting up with it anymore.

M will physicly check every plug monday. If its not that Ill take the valve covers off and look. if it IS a plug, whats the best option to fix it? Im really open to the 5.4 swap. I had a '99 f150 with the 5.4 and loved it.

Right! One with half the barrel missing.

Stealing a mans tools is a BIG mistake. I mean, take the woman instead. Mess with my tools and I'm coming after yuh.

Yea, check the plugs if you haven't already. That's not clear, after jethats question (?) What happens is, you'll hear a ticking just before one jettisons from the plug chamber. It's possible for it go unnoticed in appearance. The plug may be crammed up the boot. Could even be wedged in the chamber before the threads and seem tight. You won't know until you dig in. That is, IF you have anything left to dig with. If I see a good deal on those snap on sets on ebay, I'll let you know. Who knows, they might be yours. If you have an axe or just a nice piece of hickory, those may help you locate your tools as well. Keep in mind, this is only what you've noticed missing, so far.

Anyway, -one of us will help you figure out what's going on with the engine, if your having trouble or just need some info.

BTW- If it turns out you need an engine, -what you do is hit this site, -

http://www.car-part.com/

It's a locator that works great, -used it many times and it's free. You type in your zip and engine info. They locate most or all resources in your area and work out from there. A good low mileage 5.4L is probably going to be around a grand, -maybe a little more, like 1,300 ballpark.

You may get lucky and find one cheaper. The lower the miles, the pricier they are of course.

What? Your leaf blower? Try filling your info in, top right, start your own thread and give a little more detail lol.

A V8 will run, but its not good for it. Dirt and crap in that cylinder can cost you a motor. Plus you foul the O2 sensor and damage your converters.

We definitely need a bit of additional information... and, as jb said, it's definitely not recommended to run it that way... it'll be a trickle-down effect of problems.
