Finally get some good news on my truck. 01 screw 5.4. This is the one that had no power in the heat, over 95 degrees, and now low end power. Two attempts to fix at the selling dealer and no luck. They could not find anything wrong. I took it to another dealer and the tech actually came out and talked to me about the problem. No check engine light or codes. Turned out to be a bad D.P.F.E. sensor which was causing the EGR valve to open to far. Now the truck has power again and runs great. I hope that this helps others with the same problem in warm weather.

How many miles were on the truck? What is a D.P.F.E sensor? I have the same damn problem and it drives me NUTS!

 

Who'd have ever thunk to bring up the topic.
I attributted it to the A/C compressor kicking on, just as I ask for power to pull away from a stoplight.

I will bring it to the Ford persons attention, next time in.

Any other info will greatly be appreciated.

My truck ran fine until about 1,000 miles. Then the problem started. It now has 4,000 miles and this is when I finally got the problem fixed. I to thought maybe it was the ac, but I tried it with the ac when the engine was cold and it ran fine. Now it runs great with the ac on or off. What a difference. The dealership tech said that this problem was not uncommon and he has seen it plenty on these trucks. The problem is alot of the techs cannot think on their own and cannot diagnose a problem without a error code on the computer. In other words, if they are not on a lap top, they are lost. I am glad I tried another dealer and got a tech that knows how to think. If you want, I can post the part nbr if that will help.Terry
