Question Question on ASP pulleys

Does the ASP pulleys have any negative affect on the charging system or when towing heavy loads? And does it retain the factory belt? I had the three piece March pulley setup and it created havoc on my old Chevy K1500. All I'm looking to do is get a few more HP out of the engine without any problems. Thanks.

I've had mine a year and no negative charging effects and mine used the same belt. Some people say you will have a problem if you run something else off the battery such as subwoofers, but I haven't noticed any thing wrong there either but my power source is connected through the computer though, therefore it only comes on when the key is turned. They have a nice little power gain and have been worth the price.

2000Black,

I assume those Power Pulleys are a bit smaller diameter to decrease the engine load caused by accessories. Do I have that right?

How has this affected your A/C at low rpm's? I find that here in Houston, at low rpm's the A/C is marginally functional. Seems like the PP's might make it worse.

TIA

Guys,
Down here in Houston, I have had ASP pullies for two summers now and have had no problems whatsoever. I even have replaced the stock fan with dual electric fans and am running just as cool as stock. The stock belt is retained. I think it is a worthwhile mod.

GoDogGo- Thanks, I just ordered the pulleys from the Online Store. I do have a question, what two fan setup did you go with? I'm still kicking the idea of doing the Flex-a-lite #260 fan setup, but waiting until the warranty nears expiration.

Thumbs up Electric fans

Hey Jupiterak

Check out my signature below, ive had my truck for nine months and have done everything listed in my signature. My truck has been into the dealer several times for warranty work and they have never said anything to me about the modifications ive done.
So if you want electric fans just do it.

Larry.

Cool

speeder- You must have some special VIP attention at your Ford dealer. I guess it varies at different dealerships. Last time I was there, they asked all types of questions on the FIPK. The idiot service writer claimed it was a UFO and didn't know what it was. After the BS settled he finally wised up and shut up. I've read the 2002's will have electric fans, so I might wait till then and see what setup the 2002's have. I'm alittle worried about all the amperage draw from the stereo and lights I have.

Jupiterak,
I am running dual 14" perma-cools. I kept the stock shroud but trimmed it where required to fit around the fans. Also have a manual override switch in case the adjustable thermostat breaks. Also have a manual cut-off switch for A/C fan activation should I elect to use it (usually most of the time in city traffic and all of the time on the highway).

BeastRider,

You partially right, as the crank/harmonic balancer pulley are smaller than factory and the water pump pulley is larger.

I also have to concur with GoDogGo because I have had mine in for two summers as well and have not had any problems with engine accessories.
