Tell me about it. Try running a V6 at 6,572 ft in Colorado Springs and pay $1.30 for crap gas(medium grade 87 octane). Can't wait to get closs to sea level. I think this thin air effects driving ability for these drivers around here.

I live in Parker, CO. I can't believe the difference I see with my truck as the temperature varies. When it is 45 degrees out it seems like it has 30 more horses than when it is 75 degrees. It's very noticeable when I climb grades. I know its not the humidity because it is somewhat stable (dry) all year round.

I live at 4000ft and drive to 5700 every two weeks or so and have never noticed a diffrence. Have heard that some of the higher alt places sell diffrent kinds of gas though.

I live in the Springs also. Does anyone know what exactly the Ford High Alt. package consists of? Cuz I know my truck doesn't have it and I want to know what I can do.

Thanks

Dude,
The "high altitude pkg" is the way the ECM is programmed...ie.,the program in the computer.
There are no "parts"...You're gonna hate this but, go get a "reflash" for your computer and then get a "re-burn" on your chip for the new code. BTW, Dfolk88, I live in Parker, also.

Thanks Reed,

Do you know if it would be worth it? Will it make a difference? I told SuperChips I lived at 6000' elev. Would they have not altered the chip for my curcumstance?

Thanks
Darren

DarinDude,
I can't answer for S-chips(Mike T.), but I understand they will re-burn your chip at no charge for a new code...Mike can clarify this. Whether Ford will give you a high altitude program (new code) to "improve drivability" is a question you have to ask the dealer in Colo Spgs. I would think the
reprogramming of your ECM would be free, but
I don't know that for sure. Good luck.

Sorry, but I think ford had a missprint. That's the "high attitude" system you are reffering too! It's a training program for their service guy's. LOL
