Connecting Rods 4.6 DSS Racing

My 2005 4.6 has a bent rod and damaged piston, I am considering a 'new' set of stock rods being sold by DSS Racing for 100.00. They claim they are 'new' pullouts that were replaced with forged rods. I am not looking to build the engine beyond stock, just repair it. Any recommendations ?

Sounds like a good deal for 100 bucks.

It does sound like a good deal, but I am also leery of the stock rods (though they did survive for 200,000) - I am surprised at how easy the stock rod bent, it was flooded and just fired over a couple times when trying to start. Turns out the fuel pressure sensor was ruptured and sucking raw fuel through the vacuum line. The one cylinder must have sucked in whatever was in the manifold and hydro locked as another fired. The rod bent and when that piston came down the crank lobe swung up, hit the piston skirt and jammed stopping the engine. When taking the engine out I had to force rotation to get at the last torque converter nut, that broke a piece off of the piston skirt.

Turned out I had 2 bent rods with damaged pistons, ordered them new through Ford - about 44.00 each, cheap enough.
