5.4:anyone heard of blowing a plug out of the head?

Hey All,
My local mechanic said that the issue w/the spark plugs is not the carbon build up and striping the threads or breaking the plug but rather metal fatigue of the aluminum head causing the plug and all to be blown out! I have the early BA heads in the truck.
Any truth to this?
I just bought some Brisk plugs and penetrating oil from Mike @ Troyer Performance and will attempt a plug change next weekend. I have 85k on the stock plugs.
I did this already on my wifes '06 4.6 3V in her Explorer and was pleased at the lack of any issues.
Thanks,

I had one Brisk plug that the porcelein blow out from the plug body . I did not see any type of knock sign . I replace a plug , and of course the coil .

This was on a Forced induction F150 2010 .

You sure he wasn't thinking of the 2 valve motors that had the blow out issues?

Nope, that's not true. They come loose simply because they were improperly torqued. They work their out for a time and eventually blow when all that's holding them is 2 threads. That mechanic gets an A+ for the overly dramatic. The metal doesn't "fatigue". However, it's aluminum and plug threads are harder. So the heads are fairly easy to cross thread or stretch with a plug change if you don't know what your doing.

The carbon deposites is the issue on the 4.6+5.4 3v heads....it builds up in the pocket where the extended heat shield is located all the way around it acting like glue....

And of course any time a spark plug is improperly installed or tightened there's a chance of blow out on any vehicle....

Your mechanic is cross threaded.....

The explorer's v8 location makes it easier access to the plugs....the f150 DOES NOT....FYI

Ok,
So maybe he was thinking of a 2 valve engine or it was never an issue?
Thanks,
