Engine Jingle...
This morning on the way to work, about half way there, I heard a jingling sound (like a nail in the tire). As I slowed to a stop the sound kept the same rythm and frequency, so I realized it was coming from the engine. The sound stayed there all the way to work and stopped when I got to my parking spot. Has anyone had this before? Beginning of a problem?

See if you can narrow it down. With the truck in park and running, lift the hood and see if you still have the jingle. If not get someone to rev up the engine while you listen from the side. (I wouldn't stand in front of the truck with someone reving the engine) If no jingle, then it could be something that makes noise while the truck is moving and you may have picked up some trash into it. Like rocks in the grill or bumper, or your drivetrain.
Hopefully it is just something as simple as what was wrong with my wife's brand new '99 Explorer. She was also complaing of a jingling type sound, but it was coming from under the vehicle. I took it in, and it ended up being small stones that got trapped between the catalytic converter and the heat shield. The dealer pulled the stones out, and then bent the heat shield up so that the stones could not get up there again.

Found it! Turns out it was either my heater or my fan. The fan is making a squeaky noise and may have a leaf caught in there. Any way to easily clean this area of debris or oil it?

*bump*
Hey guys, I am going to revitalize this thread if I am able to. I have had this damn jingling sound coming from what sounds like underneath my truck since a month after I bought it in 2001(October.) It does not sound like what is mentioned above......
I have tried running the truck in idle and sliding under it, but no luck. I hear it most of the time on rough roads or bumps.
I know it is not a loose brake pad or rotor.....anyone have any ideas?
