2002 5.4 not starting

I have a 2002 F150 with a 5.4L. Back in July it just quit running on me while I was driving three seperate times and wouldn't restart untill it sat for about an hour. It didnt do it again untill last saturday when I went to the store. I was in there for about an hour came out and it would just crank but not start. I waited about an hour came out and it started again. Got it home and went out two days later but now it just cranks and wont start. Thought it was maybe a cam shaft sensor so I replaced that but no luck. If anyone has experienced this or has an idea I would appreciate any help.

Is your theft light blinking when trying to start?
How many miles?
Could be fuel related... filter last changed?
Any check engine light or issues lately?

Sensors really dont fail without setting codes. What I would do is get a fuel pressure gauge and check the Fuel pressure.. Then if it checks get a cheap code reader there down to 20 bucks..

You replace the crank sensor, -not the cam.

Thanks for the info. Will test the fuel pressure and get a code reader from the local auto parts. They loan them out. And yes jbrew I replaced the cam sensor not the crank sensor.

Right, always eliminate a fuel delivery problem first. That's always first. Minimum for the 4six is 29 psi. The 5four is relatively the same for that model year, about 30 psi.

Once that's done, replace your crank sensor.

Do you have a gauge ?

I just seen that you have 93,000 miles. The original Ford pumps for that model year generally would last to 90,000 miles on average. To swap one out at the dealership w/Ford replacement was 800-850 bucks, - fairly easy to do yourself if you have the time. Just something to keep in mind.
