US, Canadian Tow Packages are Different

Someone posted a reference to the 2002 model year F150 specs in the general board at

http://www.geocities.com/huffmancent...a/02f150og.pdf

Check out Page 8. It says that the tow package includes the heavy duty cooling package (531), and under the heavy duty cooling package it says that the package includes a radiator upgrade. Note that at the bottom of the page however, it says, "Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited".

Now go to this URL. It is the 2002 model year specs as supplied by Downs Ford in Toms River, NJ.

http://www.downsford.com/order_guides/2002F150.PDF

Go to Page 8 again. Gee, isn't that interesting? Not a single mention of a heavy duty cooling/electrical package.

What sort of garbage is this, anyway?

But of course, our Miracle One Inch radiator won’t work in Canada. Up North, they need the larger two-inch model.

Thumbs down cooling

Of course, the thinner radiator is obviously better suited to warmer climates yeah, right !

This is typical of the back@$$ed way that Ford does things sometimes. Ya just gotta wonder what they're thinking.

I would not count on any Canadian getting a larger rad just because of that document. It sounds to me like the same old saga of 2001 rads will continue into 2002. I have a (Canadian) 2001 that my dealer upgraded the rad for me to a 2.2 ". It came with the 1.02". I have towed this summer with a 31' trailer as much as 850KM in a day at temps peaking at 96 degrees. I just wonder how the 1.02" would have performed.

890 Km a day.... I think that os like 3 blocks. ;-) Anyhow, any way to tell which rad you have (other than measuring the thickness)? My truck is a canuck, but it is a 2001. So should I have the smaller radiator?
