Maybe a vaccum leak somewhere? But very well could be. I owned all fords and nothing else and all the powersteering pumps made strange noise?

No, it just shows an image

wait there it is

Hard to tell. I would remove the belt and start it, instead of spinning the pulleys by hand. See if the sound goes away. Sometimes a whine can't be heard at low rpms or by spinning them by hand.

Like F150redneck mentioned maybe a vacuum leak?

But with colder weather upon us... it maybe the bearings in the alternator showing early signs of giving up.

yeah Like Toyz said, remove belt and spin individual items to help pin it down.

yes ...water pump and alt will prolly turn a bit stiff...but smooth...if anything feels rough, most likely is the culprit.

do you have a long handled screwdriver or automotive stethoscope, that you can place on each item and put your ear on the handle as you spin...be surprised what you can pick up

Have you started the engine with the belt removed to see if the sound is still there?
