08 4.6L in a 06?

So I'm having the infamous spark plug blowing out issue on my 06 4.6L F150, already the dealer fixed the cylinder head (Cyn 1) with a insert and it blew 6 months later.

I decided to swap motors, old motor is already out of the truck, I found a 4.6L with 50k miles out of a 08 F150 for a pretty good deal, I understand this motor has a little more power (250 vs 230) and Im wondering it it will work ok with my PCM or should I swap the electronics as well?

I currently have the truck flashed with a PHP Gryphon 87 Tow Canned tune.

They are both 2v 4.6's so I would think your PCM should be fine.

Thank you, also from what I understand the 07.5/08 motors got a revised intake manifold which is now plastic instead of aluminum, and the intake is different, will my 06 intake work, or should I look for a 08 OEM intake/aftermarket 08 cold air intake (K&N S/B ect.)?

Heads should be the same as well. Your intake should work just fine.

Cool I'll keep the thread updated, I did notice the throttle body is angled towards the driver side headlight on the 08's if my 06 air intake doesn't mount up I'll just upgrade to an aftermarket one, I did notice all the after market companies have 2 different intakes for 04-06 and 07-08 F150's.

Plastic intake has shorter runners, more HP, less low end torque.
