Cam Phasers and Warranty will not pay
Cam Phasers and Warranty will not pay
Hey Guys,
I have had my 2009 F150 since this Febuary(purchased used). I just brought it into the dealership for a faulty 02 sensor as well to check on my cam phasers, which were ticking. The service manager acknowledges that there is an issue, however because there is no engine light on or any "hard failure" my extended warranty provider will not cover the cost to get them replaced. The provider is tricare, which was sold to me by the dealerships finance officer. Also I just finding out that some of these dealerships are owners of Tricare. This in it self raises concerns, one being that it is in there benefit to deny claims. Im very frustrated that I am paying for coverage and there is an issue with my truck, but they will not cover it. Just trying to wash their hands until my coverage runs out.
Can someone give me advice on this issue?
Thanks

Two things seem wrong here 'Tricare' is a health group for military related personnel including families. 'Tricare' in the automotive world seems to refer to a company dealing with rust and paint protection as well as leather and interior care. Nothing to do with mechanical issues. If this is true and if your truck is out of warranty, your issues are with the dealer and yourself.
Also I have to agree with 'code58', unless you can get an OEM extended warranty you might as well just throw your money in the trash 99% of the time.
Doing a little more research, I did find a reference to a Ford/Tricare extended warranty, however upon reading other forums and specifications it seems like it's not worth the paper it's written on, sorry. There should be an advocate for the consumer with these types of scams. but. I guess we have to read and re-read the fine print on extended warranties NOT coming from the manufactures themselvs.

You can cancel those warranties at any time and be reimburse the cost either by check or deducted from monthly payments.
A few times, I have purchased the extended warranties and had them added to my financing which raised my payment by about 20$ or so... then 2 weeks later called and canceled it and had them send me a check for the $1,500. I wasnt after the warranty... I typically did it to buy wheels. It was my way of getting financed for a set of wheels, tires, bumpers or whatever else I wanted for the particular vehicle.
So, cancel it, that should pay for the repairs. Youll still pay for it in your monthly payments but it may help ease the pockets that way.
