Misfire? Transmission? I need help!!!
Recently i bought an 07 f-150 lariat, with the 5.4 and 87,000 miles and when it shifts into overdrive sometimes i feel a shutter and when im cruising in overdive the tranny feels like its jerking but when overdrive is off it runs perfeclty fine i need some advice on a fix it yourself problem from you ford pros this is my first ford i moved from a chevy duramax lb7 (nightmare)
is the check engine light on? at those miles its due for a plug change at any rate if it isnt known if its been done. It would be wise to learn about the issues with changing the plugs in that engine before having them done. Could be a failed coil to..
Have had the same exact issue for several weeks now. My truck has 123,000 miles on it and I replaced all 8 plugs and only 3 COPs at 85,000. Thought the issue was a trans problem so I took it to the shop and they said theirs nothing wrong with the trans (they did some testing?) but said there was a skip on the #4 cylinder. The COP on the #4 cylinder was replaced and helped for a day or two, but then started doing the same crap again (jerking and shaking under load while in overdrive, just before the trans downshifts). I dropped it off at the shop again earlier this week and they replaced the cam solenoid/phaser/whatever. Started the truck up, check engine light came on (it's never come on since this issue started several weeks ago), and it was skipping all to hell and back. Needless to say, I'm stopping by the shop on my way in to work tomorrow morning. Irritating!
For the price of fluid you can flush the tranny and know its done. This fixed my shutter problem on my 05. If its still there you can replace spark plugs and COPs. Since you just bought the truck, I would do both and sleep better at night.
Thanks guys for all your help I'm going to put it in the shop soon, just this weekend I made a trip from Amarillo to artesia nm and back (4 1/2 hours) and it ran fine I only experienced the jerking when my truck was at low rpm's and at 40-50 mph it acted like it couldnt decide what gear it wanted to go in
