Question info on identifying powertrain in my truck

hello, i have a 1999 f150 xlt, how can i find out what trans,rear axle,and eng version is in my truck.I have the 5.4 with 163000 but just want to know for sure...thanks...paul

data plate. Decode it. There is a data plate decoder righ at the main forum index.

8th position in the VIN identifies the engine.

Trans and axle codes are on the door jamb sticker.

You can also go to www.fordparts.com with your VIN and get all of the general tech illustrations, part numbers and Ford Dealer prices for all of the original equipment. I mostly use it for info, but i have had to buy some Ford only parts that way.
