That part number is used on all Tritons. It's the rear main seal cover.

What makes you think its the wrong engine? That might help.

Different intake perhaps?

wouldn't the 3v have actuators on top of the valve covers for the phasers?

I think its a 2008+ 4.6 2v they didnt use plastic intake until 08 on the 4.6

ETA the oil filter is in the 5.4 location.....

Just by looking at the front you can see its a 3 valve 5.4l, same plastic intake and throttle body, plus the oil filler neck is the same as a 5.4l 3 valve, definently not a 4.6 L

To the right of the oil filler neck you can actually see the actuator on top of the valve cover and wires coming out of it

Also, -the two valves have plastic cam covers, -3V's are aluminum.

So what's the problem? Then he doesn't have a 3 valve 5.4L under the hood ? What's he got in there, a V10 ? A 6.4 ?

Anyone know what type of truck/van it came out of?

I'm pretty sure you were just told it is a 3v 5.4L which is what he has in his 08 f250 (assuming you are correct that he has a 5.4L)

That would make them interchangeable... with the possibility of swapping a few accessory parts.

We're sure he has the 5.4l. What were stuck on is the oil filter isn't at the same place so it wouldnt be a direct swap.
