Never pulled one on a late model Ford truck so all i can say is don't forget those pesky ground straps. I ripped one in half the other day!

Although I have a Superduty, this may help. When Ford replaced my V10, they took it straight out the front. Didn't remove the hood at all. They took out the grill, support, rad etc. You should be able to get to the bellhousing bolts from underneath, long extensions and swivels.... Prolly some swear words too..
