Question Duration/length of "Piston Slap"

For those of you who have had, or currently have "piston slap"... Is this problem only detectable when the engine is cold, or can you hear the "slap" on a constant basis when the engine has warmed up?

From what has been posted on this board and the mailing list, the slap can be heard when the engine is cold and disappears as it warms up. The colder it is, the more pronounced the sound.

I didn't hear piston slap in my truck until late this summer. I do hear a knocking when it's warm occasionally, and have heard it since the beginning of the summer. It's very slight, most people wouldn't hear it. If you get under the truck and listen right under the oil pan, that's where you can really hear it. I would assume that is closely related to my piston slap. Can't wait for the new engine to come in, it's getting worse.
