Started pulling parts off the truck to give it a good tune up and replace plugs, cop boots and the like since I`m giving the truck to my daughter. Upon pulling the TB cover off I found a problem right away. The rubber hose from the nipple on the rear of the throttle body to the firewall connection with green connector is trash. It has just disintegrated with the engine heat and age and I need a new one. I looked at multiple parts books and cant find a ID for it anywhere. Anyone have a clue as to what its called so I can get a order placed for one?

That is the hose for the EVAP system. It takes fumes from the fuel tank and cannister and feeds them to the motor.

 

Evap return tube.


Dealer part only? I dunno. Don't see it at rockauto
part number 9G271 I believe.

You can probably replace it with fuel hose of the same diameter? If the fitting on the end is in good shape and will allow it.

Maybe jbrew will know where you can get one

 

It's considered an emissions part, not a vac hose. That might help you in your search.

Wow...Thanks for all the help and replies guys. I was hoping to find it online from discount dealer parts as that pricing always is cheaper than my local dealer. On this I may just have to get it directly from them so they can look it up in there book.

Yea, emission hoses will do that, ie shed. The hose(s) actually remain in good shape as shedding doesn't effect structure flow ability. You can search around if you really want to know.

Hell, if you change that hose, you only just begun. ALL emission F/V lines under the truck, that run from front to back are in WORSE shape yet.

Yea, the black charcoal dust on the outside is normal. Normal reaction from time and what it's made of. They will continue to do they're job for years to come.

 

I actually shed its outside so bad it was the consistency of a garden soaker hose. The hole top of the manifold and TB was covered in fine black powder from it all but not seen in pic as I blew off manifold and all spark plug holes in prep for tune up and plugs.. I was able to bend it and actually have it just break away so better safe and replace it. I also found my rubber PVC elbow pretty cracked so its getting replaced. All the other hoses I have checked have come out fine and still flexible, no visual cracks and still looking okay. This is from the tank to the front of truck as I changed filters and the like and traced them as much as I could.
Unfortunately on my nosing around I discovered my tie rods were shot so thats another parts list to start acquiring.

I`m giving the truck to my daughter to drive back to TN and also may be pulling a single horse trailer with it also ( I have factory tow package ). I would rather replace a few items that may be iffy than possibly leave her stranded someplace over one of them possibly.Its just a dad thing about his daughter I guess.Thanks for the info on the hoses though as any info is new info to absorb.

 

I must have broke the pcv elbow replacing the coil. I had removed it and check it prior to replacing the coil. I hope replacing it will fix this.
