Should I buy or not?
Hi Kevin, first off if it's a V6 it's been in a wreck cause when it left the factory those cylinders were in a straight line.
Forget about those vehicle value sites, here's Raoul's appraisal checklist:
Pickup Trucks over 10 years old -
If it won't run AND won't pass inspection = $500
If it won't run OR won't pass inspection = $1000
If it runs AND passes inspection = $2000

Try the sites nomo suggested, plug in as much info about the truck as you can and you can tell if the seller is asking closer to Trade-In or Used Retail. That's 'VERY' low miles for a vehicle that old. Haven't heard anything bad about '86 but also check out: www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recmmy1.cfm
I am looking at buying a 1986 F-150 V6 Standard. The body is in excellent (Close to perfect) shape. Newer tires and cab. It has 73,000 miles on it and the previous owner is retiring and has purchased a new truck. How much is it worth? What problems are there with the 1986 model year? Looking for some advise.
Thanks!
Thanks!
