Ignition Coils for 4.6 V8

My 2002 F150 is a 4.6L V8 and around 71K miles I had some problems with misfiring, both idle and accelerating. Since I had just bought the truck used, the dealership took it in and replaced the spark plug and ignition coil on cylinder #1 for free. The misfiring went away, but after about 800 miles on it I have noticed an occasional misfire. It is only during acceleration, and it is not nearly as prevalent as last time. I figure either another coil is bad, or I need to change all the spark plugs, but since nothing has completely gone out yet, it is not throwing a code and tripping the check engine light yet. Anybody experience similar problems? Where should I start? If I do have to buy new ignition coils for all 8 cylinders, what kind should I get and where can I get them cheap?

Thanks for any help,
Corey

Board members are haveing luck with Visteon coils they say are Ford European supplier and no one who has use them so far has had a failure get them from e-bay here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Visteon-...sories&vxp=mtr
Get your plugs from Rock Auto the only 2 brands you should consider is Motor craft or Denso Iridium plugs

I have an 02 that was a 4.6 for 177,700 of it's life. I always have run NGK plugs in it and am running the NGK platinums in the 5.4 that I just put in it. Runs perfect and always has. Not saying dont use Motorcraft but they are harder to come by in some areas. You dont need the iridium plugs in the older 2V motors in my opinion but if you like spending money go for it.

We run the cheap NGK vPower plugs in our blown Hemis making 3000 HP and they do the best of anything we have tried. If they live in that environment I've always figured they should be reliable in my truck.... Just my .02.

Also not saying this applies to the newer 3V motors as I have no experience with them. Dont even know if NGK makes a plug for that application.

Ive used both Accel and Visteon replacement coils and have had good luck with both but the consensus is the Visteon is a better coil. Have no reason to doubt that.

BTW _ I only pulled the 4.6 because I wanted more grunt for towing the race car. It was still running perfect. Great little V8!

Good luck, Troy.
