Time for a tune up

It doesn't really need it yet but I am going to just for the fun of it...
09 5.4...runs good but theres always just a little more tweakin' a guy can do..

Should I go back with Motorcraft plugs and wires or what is a good plug/wire high performance combination for the 5.4? What else can a guy do?

I am sure there have already been threads on this but I am having a hard time trying to find where it is....

Thanks

Thanks....I thought Ford did like Chevy and stopped putting fuel filters on them...No sh*% Chevy did....didn't know what til a couple of months after I bought it and was looking around and couldn't find it....called dealership they said "Ohhhh sure.....its in the fuel tank".....I can't recall a time where I have ever been that pissed off.... They told me that Ford, Dodge, and everybody is doing that now...Same with no cabin air filters too...

I hope Ford isn't doing that...

The 09 takes a regular plug, they don't take the two piece plugs of the 04 to 08 5.4. I'm not sure what the 09 takes, but stay with the motorcraft plugs. And FYI..the SP-515 is a two piece plug, just with a tighter crimp. Also, the Champion is NOT the plug of choice, some are having good luck with them, but the best replacement is still the Motorcraft, be it the SP515 or the newer one piece type for the 081/2 on up

alot of companies stopped using fuel filters because the strainer in the pump is very efficient now. shoot, chrysler stopped using them in there trucks back in 94/95. and i would recomend motorcraft plugs over any aftermarket plugs. champion doesnt have a very good rep for many engines outside of chrysler. plus you have the newer 1 piece plug design so you wouldnt really benfit from champions like on the previous 3v engines that broke.

and ^sam^ beat me to it

To my knowledge Ford still has the fuel filter on the newer trucks, they never had a cabin filter though.

The correct plug for an 09 5.4 3v is a Motorcraft SP-509. This is a 1 piece conventional plug, it does not have the ground sleeve. You do not have "plug wires", you have individual coils on top of each plug.

I believe the 09 still has a conventional inline fuel filter. I know the current fuel filters are "lifetime" and are inside the tank.
