dipstick dummy
What the bejesus is going on with Ford 302 engine dipstick placements? I helped the brother-in -law put another 302 in his '87 F-150 last night and after buttoning the whole thing down we couldn't find the hole for the dipstick and guide tube! Ok...we figured the engine was a wee bit older than the one we took out and perhaps it was on the passenger side instead of the original driver's side... but NO! Where else can the tube go on a 302? (me, being a Chevy guy...no insults now...can oly relate to driver's and passenger's side location!) Now some of you may be thinking the guide for the tube may be in just the oil pan on his engine...again NO! What gives? Can I get any more vague?

As you are facing the truck look on the rightside of the engine block( Drivers side) way down low. It should be almost directly below the sparkplug closest to the firewall. At least that is where it was on my 88 Crown Vic.:-)
