Was it overheating before you changed the fan clutch and thermostat?

Did you use an aftermarket fan clutch?

How many miles on your truck?

My dads old 86 would do this and the water pump finally gave out idk if that would have anything to do with it. He would be driving and all would be good but as soon as he stopped at a light she would heat up. a shame they don't make stuff to last cause he just replaced it 20 years ago

what kinda miles are on that engine? it would be unusual for the water pump to be bad on an 05. Thats one of the things ford did right with the Modular engine the water pumps last forever. If it has lots of miles maybe. The gauge reads hot after only 20 minutes? its not just over pressuring? Could be the pump but it would be the first time I heard of an 04+ water pump failure.

I know of a vehicle that had the same issue, turned out to be erroded impeller blades on the waterpump. Only circulated with higher RPM. Coolant was disgusting which had to be the root cause. Truck wasn't well maintained.

Not likely to be the cause on an '05, especially with the Extra Long Life coolant that they come with now.

Why did you change all those items on an '05? One question you didn't answer...was it overheating before all the new parts? Was that why you changed everything?

Help us help you.

Like Galaxy just asked was it overheating before you changed the fan clutch, thermostat and water pump?

Again did you use an aftermarket fan clutch or a factory one?

How many miles on your truck?

Did you burp the system properly when you changed the coolant?
