5.4 L engine rebuild

ok all, I'm taking my engine down to the short block. All this after my second spark plug blow out. My question is this, do I need to use a crankshaft positioning tool if my going this far. I'm at the timing chain and the book tells me that I should use it. What do you all think?

I think you should leave it one piece and just fix the plug chambers.

I've got 200016 miles on it and I'm afraid that when I'm done fixing the plug chambers the shavings from drilling them out will be down in the cylinders.

Nah, that won't happen if you can follow direction. 200,000 miles really isn't nothing on these engines.

Use a Timesert kit as per directions and don't pull the heads.
