hi i was wondering if anyone could help answer me this if you could convert a 5.8L into a 5.0L with out having to get a new trany. Because i am think of by this truck form a guy i know and it has a 5.8L 351 win. and i was wondering if could get a 5.0 in their with no problem so it would be a little better on gas and they are easyer to find because i have to get a small block for it because their is a crack in one of the cylinder walls so it will have to be fixed no matter what. and if any one has a small block and is will to sell tell me and if we are close enough we may be able to make a deal.

 

Smaller engine does not translate into better fuel economy really. A 5.0 will bolt up to the transmission. You would have to do a little exhaust work and some other stuff depending on what years and all. Personally I'd stick with what it came with. the 5.8 is the better option.
