Post engine life

how many miles can I expect to get out of my 4.2, 97 f150, before having major problems. This is assuming excellent care, oil change regular,ect.

You can "expect" more than you may get. Expectations are seldom met. If I were you I would go ahead and "expect" 500,000 miles! Good luck.

Chodie, I think that since our trucks are relatively new, very few members have really wracked up enough miles (100,000 plus) to answer your question. I posted a similar topic and got very few replies. The all time mileage champ (for the people who responded to my post) so far has 187,000 miles on a 4.6 Triton. Some folks said that the Tritons were tested in taxi cabs before Ford put them in our trucks and some wracked up 200,000 to 300,000 miles. I sure hope so!!!
