Question Best Spark Plugs for 93 F150 ?

Hey,

I need some new spark plugs for my 93 F-150 5.0 The truck still has the original ones in it and it has 45,000 miles. What kind seems to work the best with the 5.0 ? Price is really no big deal. I was looking at the AutoLite Platniums, are they pretty good ? Please let me know what you guys think I should use. BTW I will be using factory plug wires.

Thanks

Just installed another set of Autolites in my F150 the other day. Today it was a new cap and rotor. Man what a difference!

Just regular old (#25) plugs. They have to be gapped- I did mine to about .055. The specs are .052-.056. The "old" Autolites I took out were still pretty good. I could have just re-gapped them (they were about .065) and put them back in. But, $10 for a completet new set is just too cheap to not do.

Best Spark Plugs for 93 F150 5.0 ?

Hi Folks, was wondering what someone else might know. I have a 93 F150 4X4 5 spd 5.0L with 131K dual glass packs. Pinging and running rough and drinking fuel, so did my spring oil change and replaced Motorcraft ASP42P plugs with Bosch 2X Plat. and now it is running worse (real bad) and drinking more gas. So had a parts guy say oh those are to hot and you must be getting detenation, a 1st for me in past had good luck with them in many types of vehicles. Old plugs had rust and looked bad first time for me to work on since buying last fall. Now parts people say oh put Autolite AP25 Plat. in and maybe plug wires anyone else seen anything like this, any recommendations, 1st ford had since my 70 ranchero 351W 17 years ago. Thanks in advance.

The push rod Ford engines arent really that picky about plugs but with that said I personally wouldn't use Bosch plugs in anything. When was the last time you gave it new oxygen sensors? I would put decent plugs in it and do the o2's..

The best plugs for a 302 are either Motorcraft or Autolite copper. Do not put platinums of ANY brand in it.

MOTORCRAFT Part # SP450 {#ASF42CF4} Standard
Plug Material: Copper; Gap: .054

AUTOLITE Part # 25 {#XP25} Resistor
OE Style; Gap .054

Agreed! Always go with oe plug! Ford = motorcraft thats what your engine was built around. Factory knows whats best.
