I'm considering a 2011 new leftover. Is there a difference between the yrears in the 5.0 engines?

None that I am aware of. BTW, I am completely happy with my 2011 5.0. Great little engine with 24,500 miles so far.

I have a 2001 Screw 5.4/2WD with 172K miles on it. It's a great truck. Just thinking of moving up.

 

I came from a 2005 XLT 4x2 with the 5.4 and this 2011 will run circles around the 2005. However, it's my opinion that the 2005 looked better, but I had too many miles on the 2005 for my nightime travels. Also, the extra space in the new screw is great as is the fuel economy.
